ADHD testing and treatment · Northbrook, Illinois
Find out if it is ADHD, and what to do next.
A full evaluation for children, teens and adults, run by a Certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider. You leave with a clear answer and a plan, not a maybe.
- Testing and treatment under one roof, so a diagnosis does not mean starting over somewhere else
- Objective Creyos cognitive testing, not a 5 minute questionnaire
- Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Cigna accepted
- In person in Northbrook or by telehealth anywhere in Illinois

2 minute self check
Not sure it is worth booking?
Six questions drawn from the three areas clinicians actually look at: inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. It takes about 2 minutes and nobody sees your answers.
It will not diagnose you. What it will do is show you which patterns are worth raising in a real evaluation, so the first appointment starts further along.

This self check is an educational tool, not a diagnosis or medical advice. ADHD is diagnosed by a trained clinician who reviews your history, your symptoms across settings, and screens for other conditions that can look similar. Your answers stay in your browser and are never sent to us.
What testing involves
Four steps, start to plan.
There is no single test for ADHD. A real evaluation looks at behavior across settings, rules out the conditions that mimic it, and only then puts a name to it.
-
01
Intake call
We ask who the evaluation is for, what you are noticing, and what your plan covers. You get times and cost before you commit.
-
02
Clinical evaluation
A full history with a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Symptoms, how long they have been there, and how they show up at school, at work and at home.
-
03
Objective testing
Rating scales plus Creyos cognitive testing, which measures attention, memory and executive function directly. Input from parents, teachers or a partner where it helps.
-
04
Results and a plan
A clear answer, written up, and a treatment plan you agree with. Behavioral strategies, medication, or both, managed here by the same team.

Questions
What people ask before they book.
How is ADHD actually diagnosed?
There is no single test. A trained clinician looks at behavior patterns, symptoms, and how long they have been present, then at whether they interfere with school, work or relationships across more than one setting.
Our evaluation combines a full clinical history, questionnaires and rating scales, input from parents, teachers or a partner where it helps, and Creyos cognitive testing. We also screen for the conditions that can look like ADHD, such as anxiety or a learning disorder, so the answer holds up.
Do you test adults, or only children?
Both. ADHD often continues into adulthood and can affect work, relationships and self confidence. Plenty of our adult patients come in after their own child is diagnosed and the description sounds familiar.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can request an evaluation directly through the form on this page, book online, or call us at (847) 769-4500. Some insurance plans require a referral for coverage, and we will flag that when we verify your benefits.
Will insurance cover testing?
We accept applicable PPO plans from Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Cigna. What testing itself costs depends on your specific plan. Send us your insurance details through the form and we will check before you commit to anything.
If it is ADHD, do I have to take medication?
No. Medication is one option, not the only one. Behavioral therapy helps with organization, time management, impulse control and social skills, and for children that often includes routines, reward systems and parent coaching.
If medication does make sense, we work with you on the type and dose. There are stimulant and non stimulant options, and everyone responds differently, so the plan is built around your symptoms, health history and side effects.
Can any of this happen by telehealth?
Yes. We see patients by telehealth anywhere in Illinois, and Christian is also licensed in Wisconsin and Rhode Island. If you would rather come in, the office is at 614 Academy Drive in Northbrook with parking at the door.
What happens after the diagnosis?
You stay with us. Testing, therapy and medication management all sit under one roof, so a diagnosis does not mean starting a new search for a prescriber or a therapist. The same team carries the plan forward.
Stop guessing about it.
Send the form and we will call you back with times, cost and what your plan covers. Usually the same business day.
